Then and Now.
Between the AS and A2 year, my skills have already greatly improved, in all aspects, but especially research. When we were thinking of locations for our short film, we took about a minute to decide it would be shot at my house. All the filming was done in a day. With the opening being so short, it was fairly quick and easy. Mise en scene/props/costume was the only thing thought about before-hand, where we bought some fake blood and some white t-shirts for re-filming.
This year, it's already completely different. My planning and preparation has been bumped up majorly. I'm trying to think and prepare everything I can before the filming starts. The other day I spent around two hours researching ten songs with female vocals made by a British artist in the dubstep genre. I used google maps to find good locations for shooting that I pitched to my team. I've also set up a facebook and email for the group to allow easy communication. I've carefully thought out costume, hair and makeup, as I'm going to be the featuring artist. I've looked up the places in the pictures for our mood board so we can actually encapsulate the mood board into our filming, since we got such a great vibe from the board in total. I've also been looking up videos in the genre, although dubstep doesn't seem to have too many of those, as it's 99% about the music and the beats.
Either way, I feel I've already made great progress, and plan to continue improving myself and my skills throughout the rest of the course.
