The best example of a music video,

The best example of a music video.

While she may not be my favourite artist, and her songs may not interest me, and this certainly isn't my favourite video, the music video to Rihanna's song "Where Have You Been" is the best example of the music video form. The video perfectly does what it's supposed to do - promote Rihanna. There is not a single shot in the video that Rihanna is not in, which allows her and her image to be repeated over and over, thus giving her as an artist maximum attention and promotion. While it may be arguable that it's giving women a negative view, Rihanna's promiscuous behaviour helps her attract both men and women to watching her videos and thus listening to and liking her songs - men want her, and women want to be with her.

Her videos are not only saucy, but they're also interesting to watch - she has a variety of different outfits and looks, all in an interesting, attractive manner. Her attention to detail - mise en scene - is excellent, with a large  amount of locations, props, backing singers etc. While it's not my favourite song in the world, I can agree that her music video made me like it more, too - the song, in my opinion, is a little dull, and through the use of the interesting visuals, Rihanna was able to bring it alive; her interesting video made for a more interesting song.

Because this video does exactly what a music video is meant to do, I am saying it's the best example for a music video - perfectly promotes Rihanna, extends the fan base, interests the audience, and makes the song more entertaining.
