final blogging task - goodbye!

I've loved doing media for the past two years. This year was definitely more challenging, but I've loved every minute of it. I've learnt so much in this subject! I've made a Music video! I've made Digipak and advertisement!
It's been crazy, but now I'm looking forward to preparing for the exam.

Little changes..

I got feedback from my teacher and she suggested some little changes.
The changes to the Digipak is the SONY ENTERTAINMENT LOGO is now on the LEFT hand side. My teacher said it looked too squashed on the right side which I agreed with  so I moved it.

For My advertisement she suggested that I put the iTunes logo next to the HMV logo because  these are the two places where the consumers would buy the product so it would make more sense if they were next to each other.

The Advertisement - Ava Manhattan

This is the advert for Ava Manhattans Album release. I've kept it simple like my digipak and kept to my theme colours to show the visual link between this and the digipak.
I've added where you can purchase the album from 'iTunes', HMV
I've added in the SONY MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT LOGO.
I've also added her twitter and Facebook for new fans or for even exisitng fans
And I took inspiration from a students work and saw and added in some reviews from the 'Daily Mail' and the music magazine 'NME'
All in all I'm very pleased with it.

digipak done!

I think my digipak is finally done!! I am really pleased with it
I love how the picture and the colours have turned out.
I think that take the simplicity route was the best idea for me because now I think I have a fantastic outcome.

This is the inside panel. I linked it to the front panels by the use of my themed colours, RED, BLACK & WHITE. I think that shows the clear link between the two.

What I've done so far..

Today was my last lesson before the Christmas holidays and I tried to do as much as I could within the lesson time. Because I do not have the software at home (Photoshop) I knew this lesson would have to be spent wisely, I managed to do two front panels but I didn't manage to finish it. But I'm hoping after the holidays I'll be able to finish everything off as I know exactly what i'm doing, especially now that I've got the hang of PhotoShop.

Anyway...
This is what I managed to do today :)

I did actually manage to add in a Barcode, Copyright symbol and the Sony Music Entertainment logo, but must've forgotten to screen shot it, sorry!

Today's lesson!

In today's lesson I started adding text to my two front panel of my digipak. Initially from my mock up, I wanted to have the artist name 'Ava Manhattan' at the top left and the album name 'Infinity' on the bottom left. But Today I experimented with placing the text in different places, It was surprisingly quite a hard decision. I love the picture that I have chosen for Ava and I don't want the text to overshadow/power it.

These are four screen shots That I took, I asked second and third opinions from my classmates and the teachers who both thought the first and last one looked the best. I too thought the first and second looked more striking.

I ended up going for this one ----->
I think I chose this one because two teachers agreed that they proffered it which gave me the confidence to use it, and also I think having her name in one line looks better than having in two. Because most famous singers such as BEYONCE, RIHANNA or MADONNA only have their first name it would be easier for them to have their name placed

Three CD covers I looked at. These three female artist all have their name in one line on their covers, although not from my genre I chose to look at mainstream covers since most of them follow the conventions which is something I need to make sure I do. Also having our song from a dub-step genre I have been looking into many other genres, since I'm not tied down to any sort of 'tradition' that dub-step cd covers have

Front Panel Picture

After having the mock up of my digipak and advertisement approved I started making my actual digipak. The first thing I did was edit the picture of Ava Manhattan on the front panel, I played around with photoshop, changing the contrast and saturation etc and this is what I got ( Picture below)
This my final picture that I  am going to use and I must say I am very pleased with as I am not so good with Photoshop, As you can see I have kept it very simple only having a white background, following my colour theme of black, red and white.

Research on Advertisiments

Here are some of the Magazine adverts I looked at promoting albums of artists. They include - Ellie Goulding, La Roux, Hedkandi and Calx&Teebee
Some of them I found on the internet and others I found in actual magazines.

The Ellie Goulding one is probably my favourite - it's a great example for an upcoming artist because there is a full on picture of her face to get her recognised. I also like La Roux's one, he has followed the convention of having a picture of the cd cover on her ad and I also like the magazine quotes that are on it. I'm hoping to do something similar (Adding magazine/newspaper quotes and having it rated out of 5)
Although both Goulding and La Roux do not relate to dub-step I thought it'd be good to look at them as they are some good examples for a starting point.
And what I liked about HedKandi's ad is how big the Release date is because after all that is the pint of the whole advertisiment, to sell!

The do's and don'ts..
